June 2021

浴衣を着てルクセンブルク市内を散策した時の様子です。 This month, we are sharing yukata photos from Luxembourg city.

日本の夏と言えば、浴衣を思い浮かべる方も多いのではないでしょうか。 Yukata is a casual cotton kimono for summer and they are mainly worn during summer festivals.

様々な柄や色の浴衣があり、とてもきれいですね。 Yukata tends to have brighter colors and designs compared to kimono and they are so beautiful!

ランタンを背景に撮った浴衣姿も素敵ですね。 Lanterns in Lux city were beautiful and they matched the yukata perfectly.

レストランも、浴衣姿で行くといつもとは違ったひと時を過ごせますね。 It is not so common to see yukata in Lux restaurants!

浴衣は綿麻など夏に過ごしやすい生地で作られています。 Yukata is made out of cotton/linen so they are really comfortable for the hot summer season.

毎日暑いですが、浴衣は暑い日にぴったりです。 Yukata is perfect for hot days :)

浴衣、帯、髪飾りなど、後ろ姿もとても素敵ですね。 Yukata from the back, it also looks really beautiful.

皆さんも是非浴衣で散策してみて下さい。きっと素敵なひと時を過ごしていただけます♪ Please try to wear a yukata when you have a chance :) It’s gonna be a special experience.

この1年弱、共に着物関係を企画させてもらった2人組。異国の地でも「一緒に着られる仲間」がいることは嬉しいことです！ Over the past year, Emi and Naomi organized activities related to kimono/yukata. It's nice to have someone who can do things together even when you live abroad.

May 2021

切り絵師チヨさんです。香川県で作品を制作されています。 Mr Chiyo is a papercut artist. He produces artwork in Kagawa prefecture.

チヨさんの作品です。切り絵にあるお城は高松城です。 This is one of Mr Chiyo’s artwork. It is Takamatsu castle in Kagawa prefecture.

切り絵で作られた馬に跨って、高松最後の藩主「松平頼聰公」のよう!?　切り絵の上に”乗馬”できるようにされた工夫がすごいです。 Paper cutout work of Daimyo Yoritoshi riding on a horse!? It's quite incredible how it is presented where it shows that paper is that strong for a human to ride on it (just like a real horse!)

細やかで、迫力もあり、とても美しいですね。 Mr Chiyo's art is very delicate, powerful and beautiful.

雛祭りの時期に合わせた切り絵です。こちらもとても素敵です。 This piece is from Doll’s festival. So beautiful!!

高松最後の藩主、頼聰公と八千代姫が高松に「お舟に乗って」時代の荒波を超えて、高松に戻ってこられた…そんなシーンを回想しながらの作品です The last Daimyo of Takamatsu, Yoritoshi and her wife Yachiyo came back to Takamatsu on a boat after the turmoil of Meiji restoration. They crafted the scene with paper cutouts and kimono.

旧高松城跡玉藻公園のお堀にて。海沿いにあるこのお堀は、実は海水なのです！日本三大水城に、高松城は選ばれています。 Takamatsu castle ruins (Tamamo park): the castle was located alongside the sea, so the moats water is sea water!

袴を着られている様子。袴は江戸時代から武家社会で着られていたそうです。 This gentleman is wearing ‘Hakama’. Hakama was worn in samurai society from the Edo period.

April 2021

グルンドのサン・ジャン教会近くで撮りました。お勧めスポットです。 This photo was taken at the Church of Saint John in Grund. It is so beautiful so if you have the chance please visit.

きれいな景色の中でのピクニックもお勧めです♪ A picnic with a beautiful view!

歴史的な街並みを着物で散策するのも、特別なひと時になりますね。 It feels extra special to be walking with kimono by the historic district of Luxembourg.

絶景の中で日本舞踊を踊っている様子です。とても素敵ですね。 Emi performed Japanese traditional dancing. It’s so beautiful and amazing!!

グルンドのアルゼット川の前で撮りました。こちらもお勧めスポットです。 This photo was taken in front of Alzette river in Grund.

写真に写っている要塞は、見学することもできるようになっています。 You can visit the fortifications and also see beautiful views from there.

お着物の後ろ姿もとてもきれいですね。 From the back, it also looks really beautiful :)

「ルクセンブルク市:その古い街並みと要塞群」という名前でユネスコ世界文化遺産に登録されています。 You will feel like living in history in Luxembourg city which has been awarded UNESCO world heritage site.

March 2021

日本の卒業式では袴を着ます。様々な色や柄があります。とてもきれいですね!! Many women wear ‘Hakama’ with kimono during their graduation ceremonies at university. So beautiful!!

特別名勝栗林公園内の雛人形と共に。3月3日はひなまつりです。3rd of March is Hinamatsuri: doll’s festival. This is a hina-doll display at Ritsurin garden.

ひなまつりは、日本において、女子の健やかな成長を祈る節句の年中行事です。The doll’s festival is a Japanese annual festival wishing for girls' health and happiness.

近年、減少傾向ですが、毎年雛人形を飾る家庭もあります。Many houses display their own fancy dolls to celebrate, but the custom is on the decrease.

後ろに見えるのはRikoさんの雛人形です。猫ちゃんもかわいいですね。This is Riko and her hina-dolls and wearing a beautiful kimono, she enjoyed her doll's festival season.

梅の花と、お母様から受け継がれた振袖の柄がとても似合ってます。Riko inherited this furisode kimono (long sleeve kimono) from her mother. The kimono pattern matches well with the blooming plum tree.

Rikoさんの地元、善通寺の「涅槃桜」と共に。桜の色と、お着物の柔らかいピンクが合って綺麗です。Nehan-cherry blossom in Zentsuji-temple from Riko’s hometown. Pastel pink kimono matches beautifully with sakura.

Rikoさんがお茶を嗜まれている風景です。コロナ渦の時も、オンラインで「茶道」のお稽古をされていたそうです！Riko during the tea ceremony. During the Covid "lockdown" she attended tea ceremony practices with her teacher online!

February 2021

徳島阿波踊りより、女踊りと呼ばれる方々の写真です。 “着流し”と呼ばれる衣装を着て踊ります。皆さんとてもきれいですね! Female dance style from the Tokushima Awaodori Festival. Kimono style traditional costume here is called “Kinagashi”. They look so beautiful!!

徳島阿波踊りより、男踊りと呼ばれる方々の写真です。法被を着て踊ります。大勢で踊る姿には圧倒されます! 　Male dance style from the Tokushima Awaodori Festival. They are wearing “Happi” and dance in large numbers. The dance is amazing and takes your breath away!

徳島阿波踊りは毎年8月中旬に行われます。暑い中でも笑顔で元気に踊られる姿には心を動かされます。 Awaodori is held mid-August every year. Performers always keep smiling and dance energetic even in hot weather. That moves everyone’s heart.

2020年はCovid19により中止になりましたが、今年は開催されるといいですね! 是非皆さん阿波踊りを体感してみて下さい! Due to Covid-19, the 2020 Tokushima Awaodori Festival was canceled. We really hope we can visit and see them this year so everyone can experience it!!

海外中心に活動している阿波踊りグループのD.A.Kです。 This photo is from an Awaodori group called D.A.K. They perform mainly overseas.

伝統的な阿波踊りの曲だけでなく現地（海外)の曲とコラボレーションして踊りを披露しています。 They perform not only the traditional Awaodori dance, but they also perform in collaboration to the local overseas music where they are performing.

阿波踊りは格好の違いだけでなく、使う道具も様々です。時には提灯を使った激しい踊りも披露します。 Awaodori dancers wear various costumes and use different tools in their performance. Sometimes they use Japanese style lanterns.

January 2021

お正月 2020年お正月に、香川県で活動されている「わだもん」(着物を普段着にしちゃおう！)さんのイベントを訪れた時の写真です。https://www.wadamon.com 公民館の新春茶会後で、日本舞踊「千代の寿」を踊らせてもらいました。2020 New Years day, when visiting an event held by "Wadamon" in Kagawa prefecture, Emi performed Japanese traditional dance.

源平の戦いで知られる、高松市屋島地域ご出身のMizukiさん。成人式の日に、生まれ育った故郷の海や神社を振袖姿で訪れています。着物を着ると「やっぱり着物はいいなぁ。日本人！という感じがして、自然と背筋が伸びる」と感じられるとか。

"Coming of Age celebration": Miss Mizuki was born and raised at Yashima in Kagawa prefecture where it is known from the historical battlefield in the Genpei war from the 12th century.

On the Coming of Age celebration day, she visited the seaside and the shrine from her hometown wearing long-sleeved kimono. According to Mizuki, "I like the feeling of wearing a kimono, it naturally straightens my back and reminds me that I’m Japanese”.

成人式はずなさん: お母様が京都で”風の和音”というレンタルスペースをされているという、はずなさんの前撮り写真です。(https://windharmony13.amebaownd.com) レンタルスペースの日本家屋や日本庭園の奥ゆかしさが、はずなさんの弾けるような二十歳の美しさを一層引き立たせてくれています。

"Coming of Age celebration": Miss Hazuna took a pre-commemorative photo in a rental space in Kyoto. Her sparkling beauty of being 20 years old is empathized by the kimono and beautiful Japanese garden.

今年はコロナの影響で「成人式」は開催されなかったそうですが、日頃からはずなさんのご家族や周りの人に対する感謝や愛が笑顔から伺えます。Unfortunately Hazuna's coming of age celebration was cancelled due to Corona but her beaming smile captured everyone's heart around her.
